This is a job for a Software Engineer in Melbourne, Australia. The employer is a technology business. The job is full time.
The work is about modern applications. You will build web pages with React. You will make RESTful APIs. An API lets one program talk to another program. You will put applications on the cloud with CI/CD pipelines. You will also add AI features, such as chatbots and LLM integrations. An LLM is a large language model.

Key Responsibilities
- Speak with stakeholders. Understand the business requirements
- Turn the business requirements into technical designs and specifications
- Develop, test and maintain applications. The tools are Python, JavaScript/Node.js, React and C#/.NET
- Design RESTful APIs. Build them and maintain them
- Connect each application to SQL and NoSQL databases
- Put AI capabilities in applications. Examples are large language model (LLM) integrations, chatbots and automated workflows
- Prepare data for machine learning models. Build the models, train them and evaluate them. The models are for prediction, classification and analytics
- Use CI/CD pipelines to deploy applications in cloud environments (AWS or Azure). Manage the applications there
- Write unit tests and integration tests. Troubleshoot issues and resolve defects promptly
- Take part in code reviews. Keep best practices in code quality, security and performance
- Create technical documentation, test records and user guides and maintain them. Give maintenance, enhancements and technical support to existing systems
Requirements & Eligibility
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related field. Equivalent professional experience is accepted too
- A minimum of 3 years of commercial experience. This experience is in software design, development and testing
- Strong programming skills in Python
- Experience in Node.js, React or C#/.NET
- Proven experience in designing APIs
- Proven experience in working with relational (SQL) databases
- Hands-on experience with AI/ML tools and frameworks. These can be scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch or the OpenAI API
- A sound understanding of software architecture and version control (Git)
- A sound understanding of testing methodologies
- Experience of work in Agile or Scrum teams
- Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical skills and communication skills. You can work independently and collaboratively in a team
