Common questions
Quick answers in simple English for Vietnamese workers. Our visa guides have the full details.
Is this site only for Vietnamese workers?
No. Every job is open to people of any nationality with the right skills and experience. We write with Vietnamese workers in mind, but anyone who fits the job can apply.
What does "employer-sponsored" mean?
The employer supports your work visa. For Australia this is usually the Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482). For New Zealand it is usually the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV). The employer must follow government rules on pay and conditions.
My English is not perfect. Can I still apply?
Yes, if you reach the level the visa and the job need. Most jobs in Australia need an English test result, such as IELTS or PTE. Some jobs in New Zealand need one too. Every job ad says what is needed. Please send your CV in English.
Which documents can I prepare now in Vietnam?
A valid passport, an English CV, your degrees, vocational and trade certificates, licences, and reference letters from employers. When a police certificate is requested, Vietnamese citizens usually need the Judicial Record Certificate No. 2 (Phiếu lý lịch tư pháp số 2). Documents in Vietnamese need certified English translations where the visa rules ask for them.
Will my Vietnamese certificates be accepted?
They help, but trade and vocational qualifications are usually assessed again abroad. In Australia this can mean a skills assessment. In New Zealand it can mean a qualification check or registration for some trades. Each job ad and our visa guides explain what is needed.
I work in Japan, Taiwan or Korea now. Can I apply from there?
Yes. You can apply from Vietnam or from the country where you work today. You may also need a police certificate from that country. Our visa guides explain which countries count.
How long does the whole process take?
It depends on the country, your occupation and how fast your documents are ready. Our visa guides show the latest official processing figures.
Can my family come with me?
Usually your partner and dependent children can come with you or join you later, under the visa rules at the time you apply.
How do I know if a job offer is fake?
Be careful if someone asks for money to "secure" a job or a visa, promises a visa, or pushes you to decide quickly. Deal only with licensed organisations and real employers, and never pay an unlicensed broker. Only the Australian or New Zealand government can grant a visa.
Does Vietnam have rules for working overseas?
Vietnam may have its own requirements for citizens who go to work overseas. Check them through official Vietnamese government sources before you leave.
How do I apply for a job here?
Open the job and choose "Apply by email" or "Ask on WhatsApp". Send your English CV and your trade certificates.
