Key Responsibilities
- Do fabrication and welding work that meets engineering requirements
- Understand technical drawings, plans and fabrication specifications
- Use MIG, TIG and Stick welding in many kinds of work and positions
- Measure, mark, cut and prepare materials, then assemble them with care
- Fit parts together and line them up before the final weld
- Make clean, even and strong welds
- Check finished work for accuracy, quality and compliance
- Find and solve fabrication, fit-up or welding problems
- Use workshop machines, tools and welding equipment safely
- Keep sizes and tolerances correct during fabrication
- Work on your own and manage your workshop tasks well
- Work with other trades and workshop staff on project needs
- Keep a high standard of workmanship and productivity
- Follow health, safety and quality procedures, and keep your area orderly
Requirements & Eligibility
- A recognised qualification in Welding, Boilermaking or Fabrication
- Shown experience as a First-Class Welder/Fabricator
- Strong hands-on experience in an engineering or heavy fabrication workshop
- Practical experience in MIG, TIG and Stick welding
- Can weld with confidence in several positions
- Can read and understand engineering drawings
- Strong skills in fabrication, fitting and assembly
- Can work accurately with little supervision
- Committed to quality and precision
- Good communication and teamwork
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic
- Able and willing to work regular overtime, and committed to Australian workplace health and safety standards
- Can show evidence of your qualifications and employment experience
