This job is for a Thai Chef. The workplace is a Thai restaurant in Hastings, a city in New Zealand. The restaurant is well known, and many local customers love it.
The chef must know authentic Thai food very well. Authentic means cooked in the true, traditional way. You will use old recipes, quality ingredients and a good balance of fresh herbs and spices. Each dish must be cooked and presented well, again and again.
This is a permanent, full-time job. You will work 30 hours a week or more. For workers who need a sponsor, the business is an Accredited Employer under the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) scheme.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook authentic Thai food. The dishes include curries, soups, salads, entrees and stir-fries
- Keep the quality, taste and presentation of every dish at the restaurant standard
- Manage daily work in the kitchen. This covers food preparation and storage
- Meet the hygiene compliance rules
- Help with menu planning, portion control and stock management
- Supervise junior kitchen staff when required
- Train junior kitchen staff when required
- Keep the kitchen clean, and follow all rules on food safety and health
Requirements & Eligibility
- You need a minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience as a Thai Chef. Or you need a relevant qualification in commercial cookery
- You need proven experience in cooking authentic Thai cuisine
- You need strong knowledge of Thai ingredients, of herbs and of cooking techniques
- You can work efficiently in a kitchen that is busy
- You have strong skills in communication and teamwork
- You can be flexible and work weekends, evenings and public holidays as required
