Two electrical jobs are open at a business in Brisbane that builds electrical equipment. One is a Switchboard Electrician who tests and builds equipment. The other is an Electrical Engineer for high-voltage and medium-voltage systems.
The company works with LV, MV and HV power systems and is growing its technical team. You will help deliver complex electrical equipment and power projects, from the workshop to the site. Careful work and clear records are important here. 482 visa sponsorship is available for the successful Electrical Engineer.

Key Responsibilities
- Before delivery and installation, test switchboards at HV, MV and LV, and inspect transportable switchrooms for electrical and mechanical compliance
- Do continuity and insulation resistance tests, and check polarity, phase rotation and earth continuity
- Test how control circuits work and verify protection relays and related electrical systems
- Find and fix faults in wiring, electrical parts and functions
- Build and modify control panels, MCCs and switchboards using wiring drawings, schematics and single line diagrams
- Do Factory Acceptance Testing and record the results for commissioning documents
- Keep all work in line with project specifications and the Australian Standards that apply
- Help with installation and commissioning on site, including shutdown and after-hours projects when needed
- Guide apprentices and junior electrical staff
- For the engineering role, support HV and MV infrastructure engineering that involves substations, switchgear, switchboards and transportable electrical systems
- Help with protection and control and power distribution projects
- Review technical documents, specifications and electrical drawings
- Support manufacturing and production teams, and join testing and commissioning staff to solve technical issues
- Help create engineering solutions for industrial and infrastructure projects
- Work with project managers, engineers, production and quality teams
- Look into technical problems, develop practical solutions, and help improve engineering work so complex electrical infrastructure is delivered successfully
Requirements & Eligibility
- Current Queensland Electrical Work Licence as an Electrical Mechanic or Electrical Fitter
- Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician or Electrical Fitting
- Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial switchboard manufacturing, testing or commissioning
- Strong hands-on experience with LV switchboards and MCCs, and in electrical testing, commissioning and fault finding
- Knowledge or experience with MV/HV equipment will be highly regarded
- Experience with industrial control systems is advantageous
- Reads wiring diagrams, schematics and single line diagrams with confidence
- Knowledge of AS/NZS 61439, AS/NZS 3000 and relevant Australian Standards
- Current CPR/LVR certification
- Cares strongly about electrical safety and quality
- Comfortable in workshops and on sites, and willing to travel sometimes for commissioning and project needs
- For the HV/MV Electrical Engineer role, Australian registration as an Electrical Engineer
- Minimum 2 years of relevant industry experience
- Experience with HV and/or MV electrical systems, including switchboards, switchgear, substations, protection and control or power distribution
- Can interpret engineering specifications and electrical drawings
- Good technical analysis and problem-solving skills
- Understands the Australian Standards that apply
- Works well with engineering and manufacturing teams, with strong written and verbal communication, across engineering, manufacturing, testing and project settings
