Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations and service preparation
- Prepare high-quality dishes, cook them and present them to venue standards
- Support lunch, dinner and weekend service periods so they are smooth
- Keep food quality and taste consistent, and keep portion control and presentation consistent as well
- Assist with three planning tasks: menu preparation, food planning and kitchen workflow, and monitor stock levels, food storage, ordering needs and wastage
- Meet food safety requirements each time food is handled, prepared or stored, and keep up cleanliness, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards
- Support junior kitchen staff and guide them where required, and work closely with the kitchen team and the front-of-house team to give customers a positive experience
Requirements & Eligibility
- Relevant experience of minimum 2–3 years in a Chef or Senior Chef position
- A Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery. An equivalent qualification is also accepted
- Strong knowledge of food preparation and commercial kitchen operations
- The ability to assist the Head Chef with daily operational requirements
- The ability to work under pressure in a restaurant and bar environment that is fast-paced
- Strong attention to consistency, presentation and detail
- Good teamwork skills and good communication skills
- A sound understanding of hygiene, food safety and workplace safety standards
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, and a positive attitude that is reliable and professional too
- Current Australian work rights. You must hold them at the time of application
