Do you have experience managing a cafe or shop? A busy hospitality business in Perth, Australia, needs a Retail Manager. You would run the store each day and lead the team.

You will look after sales, staff, customer service, stock and money matters, and follow workplace and food safety rules. Suitable overseas applicants are encouraged to apply. The job is full-time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run the business from day to day
  • Direct and watch over the daily work in the store
  • Look at sales and profit figures
  • Keep spending on labour and other running costs under control
  • Make the staff roster and manage it
  • Hire and train new workers and help them settle in
  • Coach and support workers and manage how well they perform
  • Give customers good service
  • Answer customers' questions and fix their complaints politely
  • Check how much stock you have and buy new stock when needed
  • Count stock often and waste less
  • Build good relationships with suppliers
  • Read sales reports and find ways to improve the business
  • Use plans that raise revenue and make work run better
  • Make sure food is good, looks good and is served the same way each time
  • Follow workplace health and safety rules
  • Follow food safety law and company policies
  • Keep correct business records, and help the business and team grow

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 2 years of full-time work as a Retail Manager, Café Manager or in a similar hospitality management job
  • Has managed a busy, high-volume hospitality or retail business
  • Has led a team of 10 or more employees
  • Can prepare staff rosters and control labour costs
  • Can handle inventory control and purchasing
  • Strong financial management and sales analysis skills
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Can solve problems and make sound business decisions
  • Can use POS systems and Microsoft Office
  • Knows food safety and workplace health and safety requirements
  • Can work weekends, evenings and public holidays
  • A relevant qualification in Hospitality, Business or Management is advantageous
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate is desirable, and First Aid Certificate is desirable too
  • Experience with hospitality POS systems is an advantage, and experience opening new stores or managing multiple locations is advantageous
