Key Responsibilities

  • Give safe nursing care that fits each resident's needs
  • Do full clinical assessments and regular health checks
  • Write and review care plans for each person
  • Keep clinical notes correct, complete and on time
  • Watch for changes in a resident's health and report concerns to the right people
  • Support dignity, independence, comfort and quality of life
  • Build trust and respect with residents and their families
  • Work well with care assistants and other healthcare workers
  • Guide and mentor care assistants in clinical work
  • Encourage the use of best-practice care procedures
  • Take part in quality improvement projects
  • Help keep clinical care and service standards high
  • Communicate clearly with residents, families and the care team
  • Use your professional judgement in clinical and care situations
  • Help make a respectful workplace where all cultures feel included

Requirements & Eligibility

  • You are a qualified Registered Nurse whose credentials can be assessed by the Nursing Council of New Zealand
  • Minimum 2 years of post-graduate nursing experience
  • Aged care or medical nursing experience is preferred
  • You have NZ Nursing Council CAP approval, or you are willing to complete the applicable registration pathway
  • You are willing to take the New Zealand nursing registration assessment
  • IELTS or OET results that meet the English language rules of the Nursing Council
  • Your education meets the New Zealand Registered Nurse scope-of-practice standards
  • You can provide proof of your qualifications and work history
  • Good clinical assessment and observation skills
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills
  • Kindness and empathy when caring for older people
  • You can work alone and with others
  • Careful documentation and attention to detail
  • A professional, confident and responsible manner
  • A commitment to quality nursing and continuous improvement, and a positive team attitude
  • InterRAI competency is advantageous
  • You must be able to show that your qualifications, work experience and documents are real
