Key Responsibilities

  • Lead big physical works projects for the client
  • Plan the scope, people, budget, programme and delivery approach
  • Lead the project team, and work with contractors, consultants and other stakeholders
  • Keep costs, schedules, risks and quality under control
  • Watch over building and renewal works in facilities that stay open
  • Check technical needs and building services
  • Organise the electrical, mechanical, structural, fire and water-related work
  • Make sure the work follows building rules and regulations
  • Keep everyone informed and manage what stakeholders expect
  • Write clear project and financial reports
  • Check how contractors and consultants perform, and keep documents and contract needs in order
  • Solve technical and delivery problems
  • Keep the work going in live environments, and manage several projects together
  • Share what you know with the team and help them grow

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Senior project management experience in building or construction work
  • Has delivered complex projects from planning to completion
  • Understands building construction and renewal works well
  • Technical knowledge of building services and critical systems
  • Experience in complex or publicly accessible facilities preferred
  • Knows New Zealand building regulations and compliance requirements
  • Understanding of NZS 3910 contracts
  • Strong commercial and financial awareness, with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability, and can manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline preferred
  • Proven professional history that can be verified
