A food manufacturer in Auckland, New Zealand, is growing and needs a Production Supervisor. You will watch the production floor, help the team and make sure every batch meets the standard.

This is a practical job. You will work with ingredients, batching, machines, quality checks and cleaning, and sometimes you will supervise and sometimes you will do the work yourself. Sponsorship is available for a suitably qualified overseas candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the daily production schedule and give tasks to the production team
  • Make sure manufacturing work is safe, efficient and on time
  • Prepare batches and make products by approved recipes
  • Weigh, measure and check ingredients before production
  • Operate mixers, fillers and other food manufacturing equipment, and watch machines and processes so they run smoothly
  • Keep product quality steady, do quality checks and report production problems quickly
  • Follow all food safety and Good Manufacturing Practice rules, with accurate production steps and recipe controls
  • Clean, sanitise and wash down equipment each day, and keep production areas tidy and compliant
  • Watch daily production targets and help make work more efficient
  • Help train and support production team members
  • Work with the Production Manager to solve operational problems
  • Make sure orders and production needs are finished correctly and on time
  • Follow Health & Safety procedures and report hazards
  • Give hands-on help in different production activities when needed

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Proven experience in food manufacturing or commercial food production
  • Earlier experience as a Production Supervisor, Team Leader, Senior Production Operator or similar
  • Experience in an approved food control plan environment
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and quality requirements
  • Practical experience operating food manufacturing machines, such as mixers, fillers or similar equipment
  • Can follow recipes, measurements and manufacturing procedures accurately
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to consistent products
  • Can lead and support a small production team
  • Comfortable in a hands-on production environment, and able to meet daily production targets
  • Reliable, hardworking and physically able to do production and cleaning work
  • Willing to do repetitive tasks and washdown duties
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Can learn new machinery and production systems quickly
  • Committed to a clean and safe working environment
  • Current forklift licence is advantageous
