Do you make croissants and Danish pastries? This Pastry Chef job is in Queenstown, New Zealand. You will make European-style pastries in a professional bakery with a friendly, experienced team.
Your work covers the full pastry process. You prepare dough, laminate it, let it ferment and bake it. Then you finish and present the pastries. You also make tarts, pies, choux and filled pastries. Consistent quality is very important here.

Key Responsibilities
- Make pastry from scratch, to the bakery's standards
- Produce croissants, Danish pastries and other viennoiserie
- Work through each laminated dough step: mix, rest, shape, proof and bake
- Bake tarts, pies, choux and other sweet or filled pastries
- Create seasonal and speciality pastry items
- Make sure every product has the same quality, weight, appearance and texture
- Check the pastry at every stage
- Get fermentation, proofing and baking right, with the correct times and temperatures
- Use the bakery and pastry equipment safely
- Keep track of schedules, temperatures and allergen needs
- Follow strict food safety, hygiene and cleaning rules
- Keep your workstation organised and in line with workplace rules
- Work with your pastry and bakery teammates to meet daily targets
- Suggest ways to make products more consistent and production smoother
- Help watch stock levels and order supplies, and be a positive part of the team
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 3 years as a professional Pastry Chef
- Commercial experience in a bakery, patisserie or professional kitchen that you can prove
- Good practical knowledge of viennoiserie and how laminated pastry is made
- Experience making croissants and other laminated pastries
- Knowledge of pastry preparation, fermentation, proofing, lamination and baking
- Ability to make good pastry from scratch, every day
- Attention to detail, and neat presentation of products
- Keeps quality and speed up when the bakery is busy
- Knows food safety, hygiene and allergen-control practices
- Professional, reliable, and a hard worker
- Works well in a multicultural team that helps each other
- Good communication and organisation
- A formal pastry or baking qualification is advantageous
- Can work early mornings, afternoons, weekends and rotating shifts, and is available for full-time employment
- Candidates must be able to show skills and experience that fit the position
