Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical work every day at several sites
  • Plan staff and resources for scheduled compliance and inspection programmes
  • Guide a technical team that works in different places
  • Keep technical quality, safety and service steady
  • Watch how busy the team is, job margins and work in progress
  • Check what each inspector can do and give them the right jobs
  • Control authorised work scopes and accreditation rules closely
  • Build a strong health and safety culture in the field
  • Take charge of difficult client matters that are escalated to you
  • Supervise on site when the team needs more skill or more people
  • Work with the technical services, compliance and finance teams, and think about the skills and people you will need in future
  • Improve operational processes, and help the business grow while keeping technical standards high

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Proven experience in managing or leading a technical or field-based team
  • Strong hands-on technical or trade background
  • A relevant trade, technical or tertiary qualification
  • Shows that you can plan and set priorities when under pressure
  • Understands the business side: utilisation, job costing, margins and work in progress
  • Can lead experienced professionals and still keep clear standards
  • Good understanding of technical scope, authorisation and compliance
  • Experience working under ISO/IEC 17020 or ISO/IEC 17025 is advantageous
  • Experience in electricity distribution or a related technical industry is advantageous
  • Strong decision-making, communication and problem-solving skills, with experience managing client relationships and escalated issues
  • Full driver's licence, and willingness to travel between sites when required
  • Must meet applicable New Zealand employment and visa requirements
