Key Responsibilities
- Find faults in vehicle engines, transmissions, steering and mechanical systems
- Check mechanical parts for faults, wear and damage
- Take engines, transmissions and other assemblies apart when needed
- Repair, replace or rebuild worn or faulty mechanical parts
- Do regular servicing and preventative maintenance
- Change oil, lubricate, tune up vehicles and follow scheduled maintenance steps
- Use computer diagnostic equipment to find mechanical and system faults
- Read technical information and manufacturer service specifications
- Complete repairs to the required technical standard
- Test and adjust repaired parts to confirm they work correctly
- Inspect vehicles and decide what work keeps them roadworthy, then check how they perform after servicing and repairs
- Keep the workshop safe, clean and tidy
- Work well with your workshop teammates to finish jobs
- Do reliable work with a strong focus on vehicle safety and customer satisfaction
Requirements & Eligibility
- Certificate III or higher qualification in Motor Mechanics, Automotive Technology or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of relevant professional automotive experience
- Proven hands-on experience in mechanical servicing and repairs
- Strong skills in finding vehicle faults and solving problems
- Experience with computerised automotive diagnostic systems
- Good knowledge of engines, transmissions, steering and other mechanical systems
- Able to follow technical manuals and manufacturer specifications
- Strong practical problem-solving skills, a high level of attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Able to work alone and also as part of a professional workshop team
- Good communication and workplace skills
- Able to provide evidence supporting relevant qualifications and employment experience
