Do you work in underground mine planning? This permanent job is for a Mining Engineer (Medium Term Planning). The mine is a large one in Queensland and has a long life ahead. Many parts of the mine work at once, so the planning needs care.

You will make the schedules and mine plans that guide the work. Strong plans help the team meet its production and development goals. You can be based in Brisbane or at the site. Visa sponsorship is available for suitably qualified candidates. Engineers from Vietnam are welcome to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create mine plans and schedules that support the production and development targets
  • Review and improve these plans over time
  • Convert long-term and Life-of-Mine strategies into medium-term mining sequences
  • Plan stope extraction, development timing, ventilation availability and infrastructure readiness inside each sequence
  • Prepare sequences that short term planners can use

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related subject
  • Proven underground hard rock mining experience, preferably in mine planning, scheduling or technical services
  • Used mine planning and design software (e.g. Deswik, Surpac or equivalent) to plan development, sequence stopes and analyse schedules
  • Strong knowledge of underground mining methods, development needs and production sequencing
  • Able to combine geological, geotechnical, ventilation and operational limits into practical mine plans, using strong analytical and problem-solving skills to judge planning risks and find solutions
