An underground mine in Queensland is looking for a Senior Mining Engineer. The job is in the short-term planning team and is listed under Brisbane, Australia. You will make mine plans that are clear, safe and possible to deliver.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the making and delivery of short-term underground mine plans
- Change broad mine strategies into practical operating plans
- Design for development, production and underground infrastructure
- Use engineering knowledge to improve mine sequencing and results
- Prepare and improve drill and blast designs, and check stope designs and short-term production needs
- Work with operations teams so that plans are realistic and achievable
- Find planning risks, limits and ways to improve
- Give technical help and direction to the mining engineering team
- Mentor engineers, graduates and cadets
- Coordinate planning needs for development, stoping, services, ventilation and backfill
- Help the mine be ready for production and carry out planned work well
- Use mine planning software to make accurate and practical designs
- Help improve mine planning and design practice over time
Requirements & Eligibility
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related field
- Minimum 6–8 years of mining engineering experience
- Strong experience in underground hard rock mining
- Proven short-term mine planning experience
- Shown skill in operational mine design
- Strong experience in drill and blast design
- Good understanding of underground mining methods and production processes
- Experience in technical leadership or in mentoring junior engineers
- Strong knowledge of stope design and mine sequencing
- Skill in Surpac, Vulcan, Datamine, Deswik or similar software
- Ability to show genuine, verifiable underground mining experience
- Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work well with both technical and operational teams
