Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and take part in mechanical design for building and infrastructure projects
  • Create detailed mechanical designs, calculations, specifications, reports and supporting papers
  • Manage engineering tasks from design to coordination, delivery and completion
  • Work in many settings, such as commercial, residential, healthcare and industrial developments
  • Study engineering needs and find good technical solutions
  • Coordinate mechanical services with architects, structural and electrical teams and other disciplines
  • Talk with clients and project partners to understand their needs
  • Review technical work for accuracy, quality, safety and compliance
  • Go to project meetings, design reviews and site inspections as needed
  • Watch deliverables, deadlines, technical needs and overall quality
  • Give technical advice and practical help to project teams
  • Build good long-term relationships with clients and professional partners
  • Help find new project chances and support business growth
  • Share your knowledge with team members and help them grow
  • Keep professional engineering standards in all project work

Requirements & Eligibility

  • A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent recognised qualification
  • Substantial professional experience in mechanical building services, industrial engineering, or engineering consultancy
  • Experience delivering projects from design to completion
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and design practices
  • Proven technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience managing projects with different scope, complexity, and delivery needs
  • Strong communication skills for working with clients and project stakeholders
  • Can build and keep good professional relationships
  • Can manage competing priorities and deliver work on agreed deadlines
  • Strong commitment to engineering quality, safety, compliance, and practical results
  • Works well in a collaborative professional team
  • Business awareness and interest in growing client and business opportunities
  • Chartered Professional Engineer status or active progress towards chartership is advantageous
  • Willing to have your qualifications, employment history, professional experience, and relevant credentials verified
  • Professional attitude and commitment to continuous learning and career growth, in line with values of quality, support, flexibility, teamwork, and a positive workplace environment
  • Meets the requirements to obtain a suitable New Zealand work visa
