A manufacturing business in Perth, Western Australia, is growing, and it needs a Maintenance and Reliability Lead. Your job is to make maintenance more organised, so machines break down less often.
You will not take over a finished system. You will help build one. Each day you may fix a fault with your own hands, then plan schedules, track assets and manage outside contractors. You will work with production staff, equipment suppliers and technical specialists to keep the plant running. It suits a technical person who likes to create better ways of working.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the maintenance and reliability direction for the factory, and take responsibility for how well equipment stays available and reliable
- Create and run structured preventative and predictive maintenance programs, planned around production needs and how important each machine is
- Find the cause of breakdowns and technical faults in hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, mechanical and instrumentation systems
- Do hands-on mechanical and electrical maintenance within your qualifications and authorised scope
- Troubleshoot motors, sensors, instrumentation, variable-speed drives, HMIs, PLCs and automated control systems
- Watch repeated equipment failures, find root causes and make lasting corrections
- Keep asset registers, maintenance records, work orders and equipment histories accurate
- Make better use of CMMS tools, including MEX and other maintenance systems
- Set inspection routines, service intervals and maintenance standards, and write practical procedures, checklists and technical records
- Improve how critical spare parts are identified, supplied and stored
- Coordinate specialist contractors, suppliers, manufacturers and technical service providers
- Support equipment installation, commissioning, upgrades, modifications and handover
- Work with operators so they care for machines and notice faults early
- Help improve plant safety, response times, uptime and efficiency
- Make sure isolation, lockout/tagout, permit-to-work and other safety procedures are followed, and that licensed or specialist work is done by qualified people
Requirements & Eligibility
- A recognised trade qualification in mechatronics, electromechanical engineering, fitting and turning, mechanical fitting, industrial electrical or a related technical discipline
- Industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing, processing or production workplaces
- Hands-on skill in diagnosing and repairing industrial equipment, with strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding ability
- Practical knowledge of industrial automation and control systems, including industrial motors, sensors, instrumentation, VSDs, HMIs and PLCs
- Knows preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance
- Has improved plant reliability and reduced equipment downtime
- Has used a CMMS or computerised maintenance management system
- MEX or comparable maintenance-system experience will be highly regarded
- Able to build maintenance systems, processes and documents from the ground up
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and root-cause problem-solving skills
- Able to manage contractors, suppliers, manufacturers and competing maintenance priorities, with strong communication and organisational skills
- Time in food, FMCG, pet food, animal feed, grain, milling or similar manufacturing would be advantageous
- Time with extrusion, conveying, batching, drying, cooling, mixing, coating or automated packing equipment would be advantageous
- Exposure to commissioning, equipment upgrades, condition monitoring or reliability engineering will be highly regarded
- Understanding of GMP, HACCP or controlled manufacturing environments would be advantageous
- Able to work safely within relevant qualifications, licences and authorised scope
- Australian work rights or eligibility for employer-sponsored employment, and eligibility to meet Australian visa, qualification recognition, licensing and skills-assessment requirements
