Do you enjoy working with machines? A packaging company in Queenstown, New Zealand, needs a Machine Operator with real experience. The company is adding new equipment and more automation.

You will run machines, change settings, find faults and keep production steady. You will also help make the machines work better. Later, you could move into a specialist job in packaging machinery, automation or production improvement. Eligible international applicants may be considered for sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate production and packaging machines safely
  • Prepare machines and complete equipment set-up before production
  • Change products and make settings adjustments
  • Watch the machines during production and act on performance problems
  • Notice faults, stoppages and strange machine behaviour
  • Use mechanical knowledge to find and fix equipment problems
  • Clean, lubricate and do basic maintenance
  • Check product quality and equipment conditions
  • Keep production records and fill in required documents
  • Follow food safety, quality and health and safety procedures
  • Help with packaging, kegging, warehousing and moving finished products
  • Help install, commission and test new automated machines
  • Find ways to reduce stoppages and improve machine performance, and keep production flowing smoothly
  • Look after the condition of the equipment that is assigned to you

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum of 2 years working with machines or in manufacturing
  • Real experience operating production or industrial machinery
  • Work history as a Machine Operator, Production Operator or similar role
  • Good mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting ability
  • Can set up machines and make careful adjustments
  • Can see equipment faults and look into the cause
  • Some experience with basic maintenance and equipment care
  • Focus on safety and quality in production
  • Careful and detail minded when checking machines and finished products
  • A practical, hands-on style
  • Can work alone and take responsibility for machine results
  • Interested in automation, modern machines and production technology
  • Packaging, canning, bottling, food or beverage production experience is advantageous, and you can show proof of your machine and production experience
