Key Responsibilities
- Be fully responsible for a kitchen section during preparation and service
- Prepare dishes by the recipes and plate them the way the venue wants
- Help prepare fresh pasta and make dough in the traditional way
- Keep quality, portion size, presentation and timing steady during service
- Organise mise en place so the section is ready for each day
- Help with stock control, ordering, food costs and inventory
- Follow New Zealand food safety and hygiene rules
- Keep your workstation clean, tidy and efficient
- Work well with the Head Chef, Sous Chef and the whole kitchen team
- Help keep the kitchen disciplined and professional, and build good kitchen habits with your team
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant professional chef experience
- Proven experience in a commercial kitchen environment
- Experience in busy or high-volume service periods
- Italian cuisine experience is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to manage a kitchen section on your own
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, hygiene, and food safety
- Understanding of stock control and commercial kitchen systems
- Relevant cookery qualification such as NZ Level 4 or equivalent is preferred
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, and able to keep consistent standards under pressure
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends in a six-day operation
- Applicants must have legal work rights in New Zealand or meet Accredited Employer Work Visa requirements
