A recycling yard in Auckland, New Zealand, wants a Heavy Excavator Operator. This job is permanent. It is full-time.
You will drive a 30-tonne excavator on tracks. The machine has three tools. A shear cuts metal. A grapple picks up and sorts metal. A magnet lifts steel and iron. You will move scrap through each step until it goes into export containers.
You work at least 30 hours a week. Some weeks have up to 50 hours. The yard is fast, and safe work is important.
AEWV means Accredited Employer Work Visa. The employer says there is potential AEWV sponsorship support for highly qualified international applicants who are onshore or ready to move.

Key Responsibilities
- Use the shear to cut cars, machines and steel into smaller parts
- Use the grapple to sort metal and fill balers and shredders
- Use the magnet to make steel piles and clean the lanes
- Check the machine each day and care for hydraulic lines when you change tools
- Load containers for export
Requirements & Eligibility
- Experience on 30-tonne-plus excavators
- Experience from a scrap metal yard, heavy demolition or quarry environment
- Direct and confident use of a hydraulic shear, grapple and magnet (essential)
- A valid NZ Class 1 licence with a WTR endorsement (highly preferred)
- Good spatial awareness near moving trucks, machines and workers on the ground
- Able to pass a drug and alcohol screening before work starts
