Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and organise all the daily work in the kitchen
  • Manage and support the kitchen team during preparation and service
  • Keep food quality, consistency and presentation high
  • Keep the kitchen work running well in a busy casual dining place
  • Cook and check dishes using many cooking techniques
  • Watch portion control and the standard of food production
  • Guide, train and support your team
  • Manage food preparation, stock levels, storage and ordering
  • Make sure the kitchen follows all food safety, hygiene and HACCP rules

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Certificate III or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, or an equivalent recognised qualification
  • At least 3–5 years of relevant commercial kitchen experience
  • Previous experience as a Head Chef or senior Sous Chef for approximately 1–2 years
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate a professional kitchen team
  • Strong knowledge of modern cooking methods and many culinary styles
  • Proven ability to give steady results during busy service
  • Good leadership, communication and organisational skills
  • Strong understanding of food safety legislation and HACCP procedures
  • Professional presentation and high personal conduct
  • Flexible availability across a seven-day roster
  • Able to provide a current CV and contactable professional referees, and reliable supporting information about identity, qualifications and employment history
