This Fitter job is in Perth, Western Australia. You will keep industrial machines in good condition. You work in a workshop and at client sites.

The work is practical. You will repair and overhaul equipment, check hydraulic and pneumatic systems, find faults and help with upgrade projects. Safety always comes first.

Key Responsibilities

  • Keep industrial machines working: repair them, maintain them and overhaul them
  • Fit and assemble parts in the workshop and at client sites
  • Look after fixed plant, mobile equipment and their mechanical systems
  • Understand mechanical drawings, specifications and technical documents
  • Choose the right materials, tools and methods for each job
  • Look at parts for wear, damage and defects
  • Measure parts for size, tolerance, alignment and fit
  • Shape metal parts by cutting, grinding, pressing and forming
  • Put in and care for hydraulic and pneumatic pipework and fluid power systems
  • Thread, bend and cut pipe as part of maintenance work
  • Find out why equipment has problems
  • Do planned preventative maintenance and repair breakdowns
  • Help to refurbish and rebuild machines, and to improve equipment
  • Help with sustainable capital works and mechanical upgrades
  • Record what you find in maintenance and share technical information
  • Work with supervisors, tradespeople and site staff to finish jobs on time
  • Do careful, high-quality work on every project, following safe procedures and Zero Harm principles

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Fitting and Turning trade qualification that is recognised, or an equivalent mechanical trade qualification
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant mechanical fitting experience
  • Work in heavy industry, industrial workshops, manufacturing or site-based maintenance
  • Real hands-on work maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment
  • Knowledge of fixed plant, mobile equipment, hydraulic or pneumatic systems
  • Can read mechanical drawings and technical specifications
  • Good at troubleshooting and finding mechanical faults
  • Can use precision measuring instruments and mechanical tools
  • A work history that matches the position and can be checked, with proof of your qualifications and practical trade experience
  • Understands workplace health and safety requirements well
  • Committed to a safe workplace with Zero Harm
  • Can work alone and in a professional team
  • Previous leadership, mentoring or supervisory experience is advantageous
  • Current driver's licence
  • Able to pass a pre-employment medical and meet fitness-for-work requirements
  • Ready to work in workshops and at client sites in Western Australia
