Do you have real construction experience? A construction team in Dunedin, New Zealand, needs a Construction Technician or Assistant. You will help experienced tradespeople with daily site work. A strong work ethic and safe, good-quality work matter.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help experienced tradespeople and supervisors with home, commercial and infrastructure building work
  • Get worksites ready: organise materials, tools and equipment
  • Keep work areas clean
  • Help prepare, mix, pour, spread and finish concrete
  • Help with carpentry, bricklaying, roofing, flooring, plastering, painting, glazing, plumbing and drainage work
  • Prepare the ground: dig, trench, level and move materials
  • Help put in pipes, fittings, drainage parts and other building systems
  • Help install heating, cooling and ventilation pathways
  • Measure, cut, fix and place steel bars and mesh used for reinforcing
  • Use hand tools and basic power tools safely
  • Help set up temporary structures, safety barriers and work areas
  • Take away construction waste and keep the site tidy
  • Tell supervisors when you see hazards, defects or other problems
  • Follow health and safety procedures and PPE rules
  • Work with the site team to finish on time and to a good standard
  • Do other construction support work when asked

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 12 months of experience in the construction industry, with proven practical exposure
  • Able to show real construction skills and earlier responsibilities on site
  • Physically able to do manual work in hard conditions
  • Good understanding of safe work practices and construction site procedures
  • Experience using basic hand tools and power tools
  • Can work in a team and follow supervisors' instructions
  • Reliable attendance
  • Positive attitude and willingness to contribute
  • Commitment to learning New Zealand construction standards and workplace expectations
  • Candidates with verified work experience and supporting employment history are encouraged to apply
