Key Responsibilities

  • Cook Asian dishes with the recipes and quality standards of the kitchen
  • Show good practical knowledge of Asian cooking techniques and food preparation
  • Organise what needs to be prepared and cooked each day
  • Plan and coordinate food preparation work
  • Help with menu planning and estimates of food and labour costs
  • Check quality, consistency, portions and presentation of dishes
  • Make sauces and other parts of dishes for service
  • Order food supplies and manage them for the kitchen
  • Use commercial ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
  • Keep correct cooking temperatures and follow food handling rules
  • Follow hygiene and food safety steps every day
  • Prepare food for special diets
  • Tell management about kitchen problems and preparation worries
  • Work closely with kitchen and service teams
  • Show other staff good cooking methods and help train kitchen team members
  • Help with freezing, storing and preserving food when needed
  • Keep the kitchen clean, organised and efficient; report quality problems and suggest simple improvements

Requirements & Eligibility

  • You have a relevant formal cookery qualification and/or a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience
  • Professional experience cooking Asian cuisine
  • Real hands-on cooking skills
  • Good understanding of how a commercial kitchen works
  • Can cook dishes the same way each time from set recipes
  • Experience keeping food quality and presentation high
  • Understands food hygiene, food safety and safe kitchen practices
  • Can work well in a structured, high-performing team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Can follow instructions, procedures and kitchen systems
  • Reliable and dependable
  • Professional and ethical behaviour at work
  • Can communicate clearly with managers and colleagues
  • Stays calm and productive in busy service periods, and is willing to take responsibility and help improve operations
