Key Responsibilities

  • Take charge of daily kitchen work and service
  • Guide, supervise and grow your chefs and kitchen team
  • Keep food quality, presentation and portion sizes consistent
  • Plan preparation, cooking and service together
  • Help create menus, specials and seasonal dishes
  • Watch the cost of food, labour and daily operations
  • Order stock, keep inventory and work with suppliers
  • Use good stock control to reduce waste
  • Make sure recipes, preparation methods and portions are followed every time
  • Follow strict food safety, hygiene and cleaning rules
  • Check how work moves in the kitchen and make it faster
  • Teach and mentor junior kitchen staff
  • Work well with venue managers and the wider hospitality team
  • Keep the kitchen calm, organised and positive, and lead the team through peak service
  • Spot operational problems, fix them in practical ways and take responsibility for the overall standard of the kitchen

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Shown experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef or other senior kitchen role
  • Able to run a commercial kitchen on your own
  • Strong cooking and food preparation skills
  • Experience managing kitchen teams and sharing tasks
  • Understands food costing, labour control, stock management and wastage
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene rules
  • Experience in pubs, hotels, clubs or other high-volume venues is advantageous
  • Can keep quality and consistency during busy services
  • Good organisation and time-management, with a professional way of leading and developing staff
  • Can stay calm and work well under pressure
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ready to take an active, hands-on role in the kitchen
  • Relevant culinary qualifications and/or substantial industry experience
