A hospitality group in New Zealand needs an experienced chef for its kitchens. The job title is Chef, and the employer is looking for a Sous Chef or a Senior Chef de Partie. You will work in more than one venue and help keep food quality and service strong.

Key Responsibilities
- Be responsible for your kitchen tasks and the needs of service
- Prepare and cook food to steady commercial standards
- Help with breakfast, lunch and dinner preparation and service
- Plan mise en place and the day's food preparation
- Portion, plate and finish dishes to the presentation standard
- Prepare sauces, gravies, garnishes and other food parts
- Cook for dietary and special food needs
- Check the quality and condition of ingredients before you prepare them
- Watch stock levels and help control inventory
- Use and adjust commercial ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
- Keep kitchen work areas clean, tidy and working well
- Make sure kitchen equipment and work areas stay safe
- Work well with chefs and other kitchen staff
- Help junior staff with guidance, training and practical support
- Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace procedures
- Help with functions, special events and extra service needs
- Share practical ideas for seasonal dishes and menu improvements
- Keep food quality steady in busy services, work at different venues and take rostered shifts, including weekends, early mornings and late evenings
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven commercial kitchen experience
- NZ Register Diploma or a minimum of 3 years relevant professional experience
- Genuine work history that shows the level of kitchen experience you claim
- Able to provide evidence for your qualifications and past jobs
- Strong hands-on cooking and food preparation skills
- Experience managing busy service periods and working with confidence at breakfast, lunch and dinner
- Good understanding of portion control, presentation and food quality
- Able to work efficiently and keep professional standards
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Can take responsibility and show leadership during service
- Experience helping or training other kitchen staff
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and commercial kitchen practices
- Flexible to work weekends, early mornings, evenings and rostered shifts
- Baking or dessert experience is an advantage
