Key Responsibilities
- Cook many kinds of quality bistro dishes
- Add your creativity to weekly specials and menu choices, and help plan and develop the menu
- Work out how much food and labour the kitchen needs, then order and check supplies
- Check each dish during preparation and service, keeping quality, consistency and presentation high
- Work together with kitchen and front-of-house staff so service stays smooth
- Advise others on cooking techniques and preparation procedures
- Follow strict food hygiene and safety rules, and meet hygiene regulations
- Train and develop kitchen team members when needed
- Keep the kitchen organised, clean and efficient, and back up the team when service is busy
- Help with preserving, freezing and storing food when needed
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a relevant commercial kitchen or as a Chef
- Hands-on cooking and preparing in a professional kitchen
- Understands food preparation, how food should look, and quality control
- Knows food safety and the hygiene standards of commercial kitchens
- Works efficiently in a busy hospitality workplace
- Strong teamwork and communication
- Reliable, motivated and ready to take responsibility
- Creative with food preparation and weekly specials
- Can work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays, and cares about teamwork and always improving
