A professional hotel kitchen in Cairns, Queensland, is looking for Chef de Partie professionals. A Chef de Partie takes care of one section of the kitchen. You will cook for the restaurant, conferences, functions and events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage your own kitchen section
  • Plan and finish daily preparation and mise en place
  • Cook food that meets the kitchen's standards for quality and presentation
  • Keep food consistent for restaurant, event and function services, and help with conference and high-volume service
  • Check portion sizes, use ingredients well, rotate stock and reduce food waste
  • Work well with senior chefs and other kitchen staff
  • Help junior team members and keep the kitchen a positive place to work
  • Keep food hygiene, safety and cleanliness high and follow health and safety procedures
  • Stay organised during busy service, and take on more responsibility as you show your skills
  • Support lunch, dinner and event service and the smooth running of the whole kitchen

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Experience as a Chef de Partie, or in an equivalent commercial kitchen role
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent qualification
  • Able to manage a kitchen section on your own
  • Good cooking and food preparation skills
  • Commercial kitchen experience in different service settings
  • Understanding of food safety, hygiene and WHS requirements
  • Able to keep good quality and consistency under pressure
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A reliable and professional attitude to kitchen duties
  • Able to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
  • Leadership or supervisory experience is advantageous
  • Australian work rights where applicable
  • Evidence of your qualifications and work experience
  • Commitment to professional development and career progression, and willingness to take on greater responsibility based on proven performance
