Key Responsibilities
- Lead by example in the daily work of the kitchen
- Prepare and present modern dishes to a consistently high standard
- Use many professional cooking techniques
- Keep flavour, presentation and portion size the same each time
- Work with the kitchen team during service
- Help with food preparation, production and service planning
- Keep the kitchen running smoothly when it is very busy
- Check food quality and preparation standards
- Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace safety rules, and keep the kitchen clean, tidy and professional
- Support the senior chefs with daily kitchen management
- Help build a positive team that works well together and aims high
Requirements & Eligibility
- Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent recognised qualification
- Minimum 1–3 years of commercial kitchen experience
- Earlier experience as a Sous Chef, Senior Chef or in a similar role
- Strong cooking knowledge and practical kitchen skills
- Proven experience making quality modern food
- Can work well and steadily under pressure
- Strong communication and teamwork
- Good organisation and time-management
- Professional appearance and a dependable work ethic
- Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene and OH&S requirements
