Do you have experience as a Chef de Partie? A restaurant kitchen in Auckland, New Zealand needs a Chef for full-time work. You will look after your own section. You will work with the Head Chef, the Sous Chef and the kitchen team.
Your daily tasks include preparing food, helping at service and checking stock. You will also help keep food quality high. The kitchen is multicultural, so good teamwork is important.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily work and preparation in your own kitchen section
- Prepare, cook and serve dishes with consistently high quality
- Finish mise en place and service preparation each day
- Work under the Head Chef and Sous Chef, and take initiative in your section
- Help with daily specials and seasonal menus
- Use ingredients with care and keep unnecessary food costs low
- Make international-style dishes for a professional restaurant
- Share ideas for the menu and the daily service
- Keep preparation areas clean, tidy and ready for service
- Keep strong standards of personal hygiene, food safety and cleanliness
- Check stock levels and tell senior chefs what is needed
- Receive deliveries, check them and store them in the right place, rotating stock in chillers, freezers and dry storage
- Reduce food waste with careful preparation and storage
- Stay calm and work well in busy services
- Join team meetings, training, supplier visits and learning activities
- Learn about New Zealand ingredients and produce
- Speak politely with guests when needed, work well with a multicultural team, help others and do other reasonable tasks given by senior managers
Requirements & Eligibility
- Professional experience as a Chef de Partie or in a similar commercial kitchen role
- Shown ability to prepare and cook food to professional standards
- Practical experience managing one kitchen section
- Good understanding of food preparation, kitchen hygiene, and food safety procedures
- Can work alone and also help the team
- Can perform steadily in a fast-paced kitchen
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Dependable, professional and positive
- Careful with details and committed to food quality, with a passion for cooking and a willingness to grow professionally
- Can work respectfully in a multicultural team
- Good organisation and time-management skills
- Relevant culinary qualifications are advantageous
- Can give genuine and verifiable evidence of your professional experience and skills
