A construction business in Victoria needs a Carpenter in Melbourne. You will work on homes and commercial buildings. The work includes timber framing, flooring, outside timber work, fittings and repairs.
You should be able to read plans, measure well and finish your work to a good standard. Suitable qualified candidates may be considered for visa sponsorship. This means the employer might support a work visa for the right person.

Key Responsibilities
- Read building and construction drawings and plan the carpentry work
- Find the sizes, materials and work order from the project details
- Measure, mark, cut and shape timber and other building materials
- Build wall frames, roof structures, floor joists and sub-floor systems
- Join structural timber parts in the right position and fix them firmly
- Install timber door frames, window frames and other building parts
- Do fascia, wall cladding, roof sheathing and other outside timber work
- Install prefabricated and timber fittings as the project needs
- Change and adjust parts so they fit well on site, and repair, change or replace damaged timber structures
- Build and remove temporary timber formwork for concrete work
- Use hand tools, power tools and construction equipment safely
- Keep the quality of your work high and follow site safety rules
Requirements & Eligibility
- Certificate III in Carpentry or an equivalent recognised qualification
- Proven hands-on experience in residential and/or commercial construction
- Strong practical knowledge of timber framing and structural carpentry
- Experience in general carpentry, installation and repair work
- Skill with carpentry hand tools, power tools and related equipment
- Ability to read construction drawings and specifications correctly
- Strong skills in measuring, cutting, fitting and installing
- Understanding of construction methods and workplace safety procedures
- Ability to work alone and also help a construction team, and willingness to meet relevant Australian construction and site requirements
