Key Responsibilities
- Do carpentry work on home and commercial renovation projects
- Install kitchens and finish cabinetry projects
- Measure, cut, assemble and fit cabinets and timber parts
- Renovate and refurbish bathrooms
- Complete home and commercial fit-outs
- Do general carpentry and building maintenance
- Handle carpentry tasks linked to roofing
- Build and fit fences and other outdoor structures
- Read plans, drawings and measurements
- Decide which materials, tools and methods suit each task
- Work together with other trades and your project team
- Manage your own tasks and meet the project requirements
- Find site problems and fix them in a practical way
- Keep your work accurate and your finish neat
- Keep tools and work areas tidy and safe, and follow the health and safety rules
- Stay professional on customer and commercial sites
- Adjust to new projects, and help each job finish well
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 4 years of carpentry experience after your apprenticeship
- Proven practical experience in several areas of carpentry
- Strong cabinetmaking and kitchen installation experience
- Experience with domestic and commercial fit-outs
- Roofing and fencing experience will be highly regarded
- Able to show real hands-on trade experience
- Confident to work alone without constant supervision
- Able to work well with other trades and contractors
- Strong organisation and planning skills
- Good problem-solving and attention to detail
- A reliable, motivated and professional attitude
- A wish to build on your trade skills
- A full Australian driver’s licence and your own carpentry tools
- Able to pass a drug and alcohol test
- Valid Australian work rights, or eligibility for an appropriate sponsored visa
