This Café Chef job is in Sydney, New South Wales. The kitchen works in the daytime. You will cook café and breakfast food with fresh ingredients and a lot of care.
You will also share ideas for specials and help improve how the kitchen works. If you grow with the business, you may move into senior chef and leadership roles. This role is open to applicants already based in Australia, and the kitchen wants people currently in Sydney.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook café and breakfast dishes to a high, steady standard
- Pay attention to flavour, seasoning, texture and how food looks on the plate
- Keep portions, preparation and plating the same each time
- Stay efficient during busy breakfast and lunch services
- Use quality ingredients and prepare them well
- Work well with senior chefs and kitchen team members
- Share practical ideas for specials, seasonal dishes and menu changes
- Help develop and improve kitchen processes
- Look for ways to make the kitchen faster, tidier and better organised
- Follow food safety, hygiene and cleaning standards at all times
- Check stock and help with inventory
- Prepare and store food well to waste less
- Keep your kitchen section clean and ready for service
- Help train and support new members of the team
- Speak clearly and politely during preparation and service
- Take ownership of your tasks and fix problems early
- Stay consistent when service is under pressure
- Listen to feedback and keep building your cooking skills, and help create a respectful, responsible and professional kitchen
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 3 years working as a professional chef
- Experience in a café, breakfast or daytime kitchen
- Proven ability to work well in a high-volume service
- Strong practical cooking skills and a good understanding of flavour balance
- Ability to meet food quality and presentation standards each time
- A genuine interest in quality produce and ingredient-led cooking
- Strong preparation, organisation and time-management abilities
- A good understanding of food safety and hygiene
- Ability to manage competing priorities during busy services
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A reliable and accountable attitude to your responsibilities
- Willingness to accept feedback and keep improving
- Ability to contribute ideas beyond standard recipe execution
- Experience in bread, baking or pastry is advantageous
- Availability to work weekends as rostered and public holidays when required
- Ability to start work early, from approximately 6:00am
- Reliable transport for early shifts
