Key Responsibilities
- Read and understand building plans, drawings and project specifications
- Set out brickwork correctly before you begin building
- Lay bricks and blocks to the correct lines, levels and specifications
- Mix mortar to the right thickness
- Measure and keep brickwork in line
- Use spirit levels and measuring tools to check your accuracy
- Use brick cutting machines and other trade equipment
- Finish brickwork with care for quality
- Find and fix alignment or workmanship problems
- Follow construction procedures and safety rules
- Work well with supervisors and other trades
- Keep tools, equipment and work areas in good condition, and finish tasks efficiently and on time
Requirements & Eligibility
- Recognised Bricklaying trade qualification, minimum Certificate III or equivalent
- Professional bricklaying experience
- Strong practical knowledge of home and commercial construction
- Able to read and understand construction plans
- Proven ability to make accurate and consistent brickwork
- Able to use brick cutting equipment, levels and measuring tools
- Understanding of workplace health and safety on construction sites
- A reliable, professional and committed attitude
- Able to work alone and also as part of a construction team
- Physically able to do bricklaying work, and able to provide evidence of relevant qualifications and work experience
