Key Responsibilities

  • Read engineering drawings and fabrication drawings
  • Do MIG welding on aluminium, and weld other metals too
  • Build boats, fit parts and put them together
  • Prepare and measure materials, cut them, then place them for fabrication work
  • Use saws, shearing machines, cranes and benders
  • Use drills, grinders, squares, levels and other hand and power tools
  • Check every welded part for accuracy and quality
  • Keep your welding standard steady and your workmanship neat
  • Follow health and safety rules all the time
  • Keep tools, equipment and your work area clean and organised
  • Work with your supervisor and team to meet production needs, and share ideas to improve the workshop
  • Fill in time sheets, material requests and job records, and tell your supervisor about production, equipment or material problems

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Proven work experience in welding, fabrication or boat building
  • Strong practical experience in welding aluminium
  • Shown skill in MIG welding at a high standard
  • Experience with different metals and different welding methods
  • Can read engineering drawings correctly
  • Practical knowledge of fabrication machines and workshop equipment
  • Experience with engineering hand tools and power tools
  • Knows safe workshop habits and occupational health and safety requirements
  • Pays strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Produces consistent, high-quality work and has practical problem-solving and fabrication skills
  • Can work alone and in a team
  • Reliable and safety-conscious, and committed to meeting production standards
  • Ready to give evidence that supports your skills and employment experience
