Key Responsibilities

  • Do industrial grit blasting and surface preparation
  • Blast surfaces to the Sa 2.5 and Sa 3 cleanliness standards
  • Prepare materials and surfaces for protective coating
  • Apply zinc-rich primers and other industrial coating systems
  • Apply high-build epoxy and polyurethane coatings
  • Use airless and conventional spray-painting equipment
  • Check and keep the correct coating thickness and use wet film gauges to monitor coating
  • Complete stripe coating and other coating stages
  • Make sure surfaces are clean enough before coating
  • Follow QA/QC steps during blasting and painting
  • Check and maintain painting and blasting equipment
  • Fix problems in blasting equipment and the blast room
  • Load and unload blasting trolleys
  • Keep the work area clean, tidy and safe

Requirements & Eligibility

  • You have minimum 3 years of industrial blasting and painting experience
  • You have worked in an industrial surface treatment workshop, which is essential
  • You can do abrasive blasting to Sa 2.5 and Sa 3 standards
  • You know industrial paint and protective coating systems
  • You have used zinc-rich primers, high-build epoxies and polyurethanes
  • You use airless and conventional spray equipment with confidence
  • You can apply coatings to the correct thickness
  • You understand wet film measurement and coating quality control
  • You know the full surface preparation and coating process
  • You are good at troubleshooting and equipment maintenance
  • You pay close attention to detail and your work is consistent
  • A forklift licence is desirable and gantry or overhead crane experience is desirable
