An Auckland car paintshop in New Zealand has permanent, full-time jobs for two kinds of worker. One is an experienced Automotive Spray Painter. The other is a Paintshop Prepper / Assistant. The Spray Painter makes smooth finishes, matches colours and works fast. The Prepper / Assistant gets cars ready for paint. A motivated learner may be able to grow towards an apprenticeship.
Sponsorship is available for suitably qualified overseas candidates.

Key Responsibilities
- Spray paint and refinish vehicles, and prepare vehicles and panels for finishing
- Match colours, blend and refinish to a consistent, high standard
- Inspect finished work and keep quality standards
- Meet workshop deadlines and pay attention to detail in all preparation and painting
- Work alone and also help the team to be productive
- Prepare vehicles, panels and surfaces for refinishing as a Prepper / Assistant
- Sand and mask surfaces, and do other preparation work
- Help with priming and surface preparation
- Support the Spray Painters in daily workshop tasks
- Help keep the work flowing through the paintshop
- Keep work areas, tools and equipment clean and tidy
- Help with general paintshop duties as required
- Learn refinishing processes through hands-on work and build technical skills
- Work towards a possible apprenticeship or career step
- Follow workplace health, safety and quality procedures
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven automotive spray painting experience for Spray Painter applicants
- Colour-matching and refinishing skills
- You can make professional and consistent finishes
- Strong attention to detail
- Relevant experience with automotive preparation and refinishing
- Earlier paint preparation experience is advantageous for Prepper / Assistant applicants
- Knowledge of sanding, masking and priming is beneficial
- You can work efficiently and meet production deadlines
- Reliable, punctual and self-motivated
- A strong work ethic and positive attitude
- You work effectively in a team
- A readiness to learn and develop new technical skills
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate genuine and relevant work experience, and overseas applicants must meet applicable New Zealand employment and visa requirements
