A growing consultancy in Sydney needs an Architectural Draftsperson. This role mixes drawing work with planning paperwork. You will mostly record existing homes. Some homes need to be rebuilt or redesigned after damage from fire, trees or vehicles.
The employer wants someone careful and reliable. You must read existing conditions correctly, make clear drawings and understand planning rules. Sponsorship is available for suitably qualified candidates. If you are a skilled drafter, this may be a good chance.

Key Responsibilities
- Record existing homes and medium-density buildings accurately
- Measure the site and make detailed architectural drawings from it
- Prepare preliminary plans and help find structural elements in the drawings
- Write Statements of Environmental Effects and other planning documents
- Study the relevant LEPs, DCPs and development requirements
- Prepare Development Application documents and lodge them through the planning portal
- Follow each DA submission as it moves forward
- Share information between designers and consultants for heritage, bushfire, stormwater, structural, civil, surveying and arboricultural work
- Make professional 2D AutoCAD drawings in model and paper space
- Use drafting standards in the same way on every project
- Check drawings and documents for mistakes and missing items, and solve technical problems quickly
- Talk clearly with clients, consultants and your colleagues about project needs
- Plan your own work and meet agreed deadlines
- Share practical ideas to help the consultancy grow
Requirements & Eligibility
- Experience in architectural drafting, planning or a related field
- Proven skill in 2D AutoCAD
- Experience making architectural drawings of existing buildings
- Can read measurements and site conditions correctly
- Understand residential and medium-density architectural documents
- Experience preparing or supporting Development Applications
- Knowledge of NSW LEPs, DCPs and planning requirements
- Experience with planning documents such as Statements of Environmental Effects
- Good knowledge of drafting standards and drawing office procedures
- Very accurate and careful with detail
- Strong at analysing information and solving technical problems
- Can work with many consultants at the same time
- Good at organising work and managing time
- Can take ownership of your work with limited supervision
- Professional written and spoken English
- Can communicate with clients and project stakeholders
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe applications
- Relevant qualifications and/or substantial practical industry experience
- Experienced architectural drafters are encouraged to apply
