Key Responsibilities
- Install, service and maintain air conditioning and HVAC systems
- Inspect equipment and find faults in HVAC systems
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical and refrigeration problems
- Do planned servicing and preventative maintenance
- Repair breakdowns and bring systems back to a safe working condition
- Use your practical skills to choose a fast, efficient repair
- Work on split systems, ducted systems, commercial air conditioning and related HVAC equipment
- Recover, charge and leak-test refrigerant to the required standards
- Test how each system performs and adjust it so it works well
- Follow safety rules and industry requirements on site
- Write down completed work, faults and repairs in the required systems
- Work well with technicians, supervisors, clients and other trades, and keep a professional image for the business
- Keep tools, equipment and work areas tidy and safe
Requirements & Eligibility
- Trade qualification in Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, HVAC or a related discipline
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant practical HVAC or air conditioning experience preferred
- Experience in installation, servicing, maintenance and repair of HVAC systems
- Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting and diagnostic ability
- Able to show genuine and verifiable technical experience
- Able to provide papers that support your qualifications and employment
- Good understanding of workplace safety, electrical safety and HVAC maintenance procedures
- Able to work alone and be a positive member of a professional team
- Experience with commercial, industrial or specialised air conditioning systems is advantageous
- Experience with refrigeration systems and refrigerant handling is advantageous
- Experience with electrical controls, wiring and HVAC control systems is advantageous; breakdown and preventative maintenance experience is advantageous
- Willing to complete drug and alcohol screening where it applies, and to complete identity, qualification and employment checks; strong communication and customer service skills
