Key Responsibilities
- Do servicing, maintenance and repairs on agricultural diesel machinery
- Find and fix mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic faults with modern diagnostic equipment and electronic scan tools
- Look after tractors, harvesters, headers, sprayers, seeders and other farm machines
- Do preventative maintenance so machines are more reliable
- Go to breakdowns and finish repairs in the field in busy farming times
- Repair diesel engines, transmissions and driveline systems and solve problems in them
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic and electrical systems
- Inspect machines and spot faults early, before they cause long downtime
- Complete workshop and field repairs efficiently, and fabricate, modify or adapt parts when needed
- Keep correct maintenance and service records
- Follow safety, environmental and quality procedures
- Talk clearly with colleagues, customers and other people involved
- Get machines ready for planting and harvest seasons, including seasonal on-call work when needed
Requirements & Eligibility
- A recognised trade qualification in Heavy Diesel Mechanics, Mobile Plant Technology or an equivalent field
- Minimum 5 years of post-trade mechanical experience
- Agricultural machinery experience is essential
- Hands-on work with tractors, combines, headers, sprayers or similar farm equipment
- Machinery experience in broadacre cropping, livestock or mixed farming is highly regarded
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and diagnostic fault-finding skills
- You can find faults and finish repairs without help, and you are happy to work in the workshop and outdoors in rural areas
- Fluent English is essential
- A current driver's licence, and an HR licence is an advantage
- A strong work ethic, reliability and a professional attitude
- You can show proof of your qualifications and work history
